Sound Route Project aim to use the idea of hypnotism as a prospect to discuss the affect of sound on human behavior. In the talks with professional hypnotists, Sound Route tries to create a discussion on different aspects relating to hypnotism and sound: how the voice of a hypnotist affects the procedure of hypnotizing, how the usage of words achieve the purpose of manipulation, and how we can look at contemporary phenomenas – such as elections and fake news, with the concept of hypnotizing.
Shen Sum-Sum
Sum-Sum is a Taiwanese artist / sound-designer and recordist based in Berlin. While continuing to work on film productions, she also moves onto sound installation and performances. Her interest lies in the imaginations and perceptions which could be evoked by hearing experience, and the symbolic and narrative characters which is naturally carried in sound. Her works mostly deal with the manipulation of spoken words, and hope to seek interpretations and discourses in cultural phenomena and its social and historical aspect through the form of sound art.
Wu Chi-Yu
Wu Chi-Yu, born in 1986, is an artist based in Taipei. Chi-Yu’s work has long been focusing on re-establishing the connections among humans, things, animals, and the ruined world left by technic capitalism. His practice revolves around the moving image, looking for contemporary narratives in lost memory through the reproducing of oral history and myths. He is also involved in different collaboration projects of installation, video installation, and performance.
Musquiqui Chihying
Born in 1985, Taipei, Taiwan. Musquiqui Chihying is a visual artist based in Taipei, Taiwan and Berlin, Germany. He specializes in using multimedia creation to explore the human condition and environmental system in the age of global capitalization, and engages in the study and research about issues of subjectivity in con-temporary social culture. Chihying has participated in several international exhibitions, such as 68th Berlinale Forum Expanded, Akademie der Kün-ste, Berlin, Germany (2018). 2016 Taipei Biennial: Gestures and archives of the present, genealogies of the future, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taipei (2016); Social Factory, the 10th Shanghai Biennale, Power Station of Art, Shanghai (2014); Place an Image / Place in Image, Museum für Fotografie, Berlin (2014); 2012 Taiwan Biennial, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taichung (2012); ect. Besides, he regularly publishes articles in art publications and is also the member of Taiwanese art group “Fuxinghen Studio”.
